My Personal Review
I was sick and tired of all the garbage put into microwave popcorn bags that you can buy at the grocery stores. Popcorn is not supposed to be that bad for you, but with all the added junk in those, I wanted to find a better, healthier alternative.
I tried a couple of hot air popcorn poppers and they made good popcorn, but they also created big messes in the kitchen. They would shoot popcorn and un-popped kernels all over the place. It was getting completely stupid. I would burn myself picking up the hot kernels or they would shoot across the kitchen and melt small dents into the flooring. I had to find a better way to make popcorn.
Finally, I saw a video review on this Salbree Microwave popcorn bowl. I was surprised at how good they acted like it was... It looked good, and unlike what I thought, it was pretty low cost so I gave it a try. The price varies from $16.99 to 19.99 from what I have seen. And I got free Amazon Prime shipping because I am a prime member. It comes in tons of different colors too. 24 of them... so get whichever one you prefer.
Mind Blown!
This is super cool. You can make popcorn without shooting kernels all over the kitchen. Note, the image above how the lid comes up at a slight angle... this happens when popping, and if you put too much popcorn in it, it will overflow, but it has measuring lines and they work very well to get the proper amount every time.
It is so good, we take it with us on vacations too. It fits an almost all microwave ovens except maybe not the super small ones you can find in motels/hotels. We have had one place that it did not fit in the last few years. But I can live with that.
The silicone bowl squashes almost flat for storage which is great when traveling or putting away in the cabinet. The tabs give you a part to pull it out of the microwave. Use caution, they do get a bit hot, but not unbearably so for an adult. My son thinks it is too hot for him, so your mileage may very here.
I don't think you can beat this product for the price. It is less than 20 bucks and after well over a year and a half it still seems like it is brand new. No noticeable wear at all.
The instructions tell you not to put any oils in it. You just put the kernels in and hit the popcorn setting and watch it make popcorn. I always melt butter in a small butter bowl then pop the popcorn and add the butter into my serving bowl.
If you are tired of being disappointed with your popcorn popper, then you need to give this a try.
You will be so glad you did!
Don't forget, this is about the original Salbree Microwave Popcorn Popper. Not one of the knock offs that melt down or have other issues. This one works great.
In all fairness, I do at times have some un-popped kernels. If you go over the line, when it fills to the point that the lid comes above the bowl, it lets heat out and some of the kernels do not pop. However, it does not shoot them all over the place!
I would say for kernel loss, this is the most efficient popcorn popper I have ever used.
